SpiceJet flags off daily direct flight between Delhi-Adampur-Delhi
  • Adampur is SpiceJet's 5th destination under UDAN
  • SpiceJet to provide seamless connectivity for passengers from Adampur to different parts of the country

GURUGRAM, May 1, 2018: SpiceJet, the country’s favourite airline, today launched daily direct services between Delhi and Adampur in Punjab. The first direct flight was flagged off from Delhi airport’s Terminal 2 to Adampur by Shri Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, and Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet. SpiceJet was awarded Adampur under the first round of the regional connectivity scheme UDAN and the city is the fifth destination for the airline under this scheme.

In addition to Adampur, SpiceJet also launched daily services between Leh and Delhi from today.

SpiceJet organized the customary lamp lighting ceremony, marking the commencement of the operation of the new flight service. The first passengers were welcomed and gifted with mementoes by SpiceJet. In line with the aviation tradition to mark key milestones, the flight which came from Delhi, was greeted with a grand water cannon salute upon its arrival at Adampur.

Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet said, “SpiceJet is proud to connect Adampur with Delhi and multiple domestic and international destinations on our network like Dubai and Bangkok. I am sure that business and leisure travelers from Adampur and nearby cities will be delighted by our convenient connections and vast network.”

Flight SG 8731 was given a ceremonial flag off at 3:30 pm from Delhi and SG 8732 was given a flag off at 5:05 pm from Adampur, also home to India's second largest military airbase. Passengers from Adampur can now conveniently travel to a host of other cities both on SpiceJet’s domestic as well as international network via multiple onward connections from Delhi. SpiceJet received an overwhelming response for its first flight to and from Adampur resulting in a full flight.

With the launch of the Adampur-Delhi flight, SpiceJet now flies five daily UDAN flights. The other routes where in the airline already has UDAN flights operational are Mumbai-Porbandar, Mumbai-Kandla-Mumbai, Jaipur-Jaisalmer-Jaipur and Hyderabad-Puducherry-Hyderabad. SpiceJet is also slated to start two more flights under Regional Connectivity Scheme between Hubli-Chennai and Hubli-Hyderabad from 14th May.
