SpiceJet’s aim is to be a safe and reputable scheduled passenger airline focused on maintaining the lowest cost structure and quality guest services to provide the lowest air fares and high consumer value to the Indian domestic transportation markets.
SpiceJet Citizen's Charter is presented to give information on all policies and procedures affecting our valued customers.
- Reservation, Booking and Payment Process

- SpiceJet uses a state of art, internet based system for its flights reservations and inventory hosting, providing SpiceJet valued guests with the convenience to make and change a reservation on any SpiceJet flight from the comfort of their office or home. Just log on to our website www.spicejet.com and look at the availability of flights and applicable fares; select the flight and fares; agree to the terms & conditions of the airline; fill in the guest details; complete the payment process; and finally generate an itinerary once the confirmation is complete.
- SpiceJet guests can also make reservations over the telephone by contacting our 24-hour Guest Sales & Reservation Center and making payment with their credit cards.
- Our valued guests can also purchase seats at various SpiceJet Airport Sales Centers where SpiceJet operates, paying by cash or credit card. Our airport locations are generally open during normal office hours and around our flight operations.
- Reservations can also be booked through our authorized travel agents. For this service a non-refundable Transaction Fee will be collected by the Agent.
- While making your reservation please ensure your residence, business or mobile phone numbers are reflected in your booking record. This will help us keep you updated in case of any schedule change or delay of your flight.
- SpiceJet provides its special guests with selective services. These special service requests must be made at time of booking and are available only through our guest reservation. We offer, wheel chair facility for the elderly and physically handicapped persons in addition to the services for un-accompanied minors. This service is limited to only 4 guests per flight.
- SpiceJet bookings are made on a confirmed basis and are valid for the date and flight for which it is made. Once the booking reference number is generated on a confirmed basis, no re-confirmation is required irrespective of the date of travel. SpiceJet will not allow any open dated bookings.
- Fares
-
- SpiceJet prices fares on a one-way basis using a dynamic pricing and inventory allocation structure. Although fares and schedules are subject to change without notice, generally the earlier a customer makes a booking the lower they will pay. Fares generally increase as the date of travel nears.
- SpiceJet quotes fares in Indian Rupees (Rs). International guests who wish to travel on SpiceJet flights can book and make payments on their credit card. Currency conversion will be in line with their credit card companies’ exchange rate provisions.
- SpiceJet fares do not include applicable government fees, such as the Passenger Service Fee (PSF) and other charges such as Fuel charge, Transaction charge, and Congestion charge. The applicable fees and charges are added to the basic fare and shown on the passenger booking. Once a booking is made, fares and fees paid are non-refundable.
- SpiceJet provides standard fares when tickets are booked through the website or through the Guest Sales & Reservation Center.
- Your travel agent will collect a Transaction Fee for making a SpiceJet booking. This service fee is shown as Transaction Fee on SpiceJet fare break up in the booking details itinerary.
- Adult fares are applied to anyone 2 years of age and above. Infants under the age of 24 months, and who do not occupy a seat, will be charged an infant fee of Rs. 525 plus Rs. 225 PSF.
- Cancellations and Changes

- Changes to flights can be made up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time with the payment of a change fee of Rs 750 per person, per one way and per change. If the same fare is not available at the time of change, the difference in fares will also be applied in addition to the change fee plus changes to any applicable fees. This fee is subject to change without notice.
- Cancellations to bookings may be made up to two (2) hours prior to the scheduled departure time for a fee of Rs 750 per person, per one way. The balance of the original booking amount will be retained in a credit shell for a period of 1 year where the passenger may use it as payment towards future travel by calling our Guest Sales & Reservations Center. This fee is subject to change without notice.
- If you do not cancel / change a booking at least two hours prior to departure, you have forfeited your fare and fees and will not receive a credit for this unused flight.
- SpiceJet does not allow name changes. However, once the booking is cancelled and the applicable change fee is paid, the travel credit can be used for making a new booking, in any name.
- No Refunds will be given once reservations are confirmed and booked on SpiceJet flights.
- Forms Of Payment

SpiceJet accepts MasterCard, VISA, Diners Club and Amex. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the SpiceJet Airport Sales Center or through your travel agent. SpiceJet also accepts Internet Banking. SpiceJet does not accept personal cheques. If you have opted for Cash on Delivery payment method you can also make the payment in cash to Express IT personnel who would collect the payment at your Address specified by you at the time of booking.
Foreign (Non-Indian) Credit Card Acceptance
Spicejet accepts payment for tickets through the use of Foreign Credit Cards. SpiceJet currently accepts Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express. The credit card needs to be shown at the airport check–in counter for physical verification. The passenger name and credit card name should match. If there are multiple passengers booked on a PNR, at least one of the passengers should be the Credit Card holder. Passenger(s) who are unable to produce the physical credit card and/or the identity not matching with the credit card and photo identity will not be allowed to board the flight.
- Check-in Procedures

Passengers require valid identification (ID) documents to be carried for the contract of carriage to be fulfilled. Guests not in possession of valid ID cannot be accepted for boarding.
In order to ensure that our simplified booking procedure are not in any way misused and to protect the interest of our valued guests, we require valid identification documents to be carried by the guests at the time of entry into the airport. The identification proof should be produced at the time of check-in & must be in possession of the guests throughout the journey.The following are considered to be valid photo identification documents:
- Valid Passport
- Valid Driving License
- Election Photo Identification Card
- PAN card issued by the Income Tax department
- Photo identity card issued by the employer, being government and reputed private sector organizations
In case the guests do not posses any of the above documents, they should carry any other relevant attested document that contains a recent photograph of the traveling guests.
Guests booking through travel agents and who do not possess any of the valid photo ID documents indicated above should affix a recent passport size photo on the itinerary and have the seal of the travel agent stamped on the photograph.
Itinerary Printouts with the name of the Guest will be checked at the time of entering the terminal.Guests who do not have the same are requested to collect the printouts from the SpiceJet office located outside the departure terminal. Please note that Spicejet does not have counters at Jammu and Srinagar airport.This can be done on production of the booking reference number.
Check-in Time – Guests are required to report at the Airport at least 2-hours prior to departure time, at SpiceJet Check-in counters for all flights. Check-in counters for all our flights close 30 minutes prior to departure. SpiceJet will not be able to accept any Guest reporting after the counters are closed 30-minutes prior to the flight. Any Guest reporting after the stipulated counter closing time will be treated as a “no-show” and will not be entitled for any refund and their fare paid forfeited.
- Guest Services

All airports are manned by SpiceJet commercial staff to handle Guest queries, provide special assistance and sort out any problem faced by Guests related to their travel with SpiceJet.
Baggage Allowance
- Checked Baggage – SpiceJet allows a free checked baggage allowance of 20 kg per Guest. SpiceJet does not accept responsibility for unsuitably packed, perishable, damaged or fragile baggage or for minor damage to the exterior of baggage (e.g. scratches, stains, soling, dents) resulting from normal wear and tear or for water damage to non-waterproof baggage.
- Excess Baggage will be charged at Rs 100 per kg per flight.
Hand Baggage
- SpiceJet allows for one (1) small piece of hand baggage, not exceeding 55cm X 35cm X 25cm (Total 115 cm), to be taken into the aircraft cabin.
- Hand baggage is accepted in the cabin subject to availability of space in the overhead bin. Restricted stowage space is also under the front seat. In the event of no space being available in the aircraft to stow hand baggage in the overhead bins or under the front seat, it will be necessary to remove and load the same in the baggage hold as per Government Safety Regulations.
- In addition to the normal cabin baggage allowance, the following items are provided free of charge:
- A ladies purse/hand bag
- An overcoat wrap or blanket
- An umbrella or a walking stick
- A reasonable amount of reading material
- A small camera or binoculars
- Infant's food for Guests traveling with Infant on lap
- A laptop computer
Oversized or overweight hand baggage (exceeding 10.0 Kg) is not permitted in the cabin for safety & security reason. Such baggage is required to be checked in and loaded in the baggage compartment of the aircraft.
Due to airport security regulations, no cabin baggage is allowed on any flights originating from Jammu and Srinagar airports.
Assigned Seating
- SpiceJet offers assigned seating for all the guests at the Airport check-in counters.As a further value to its customers, SpiceJet allows Guests booking through its internet website/ 24x7 Reservations Center/ Airport
- Ticketing Counters to make an advanced seat selection of their choice at the time of their booking on payment of a fee of Rs.50/- per seat selection.
Boarding
- Guests should be at the boarding gate at least 30-minutes prior to departure as the boarding process closes 20-minutes prior to departure. SpiceJet reserves the right to deny boarding and cancel your reservation without refund or compensation, if you do not meet the boarding deadlines.
Special Assistance
- The use of wheelchairs is limited to only 4 guests per flight, which needs to be booked in advance through our guest Sales & Service Reservation center. There is no charge for this service. SpiceJet also offers appropriate assistance to blind passengers.
UNMR
- Children under the age of 12 require adult accompaniment at all times. SpiceJet will accept children aged between 5-12 years traveling alone as unaccompanied children (as per UNMR inventory).SpiceJet does not charge any fee for this service. Guests should complete and sign an Unaccompanied Minor Form at the departing airports. It is mandatory to produce a photo identification at the airport for all unaccompanied minors.
Carriage of animals
- SpiceJet permits the carriage of pets on its flights but booked through cargo services only.
Sports Equipment
- Sports/Skiing equipment will be treated as a Check-in baggage, and Excess baggage rules apply for any additional weight.
- Security Regulations

As per security regulations, Guests are advised:
- Not to accept packets or parcels from someone you do not know.
- Not to leave baggage unobserved at any time, especially within airport area. Unattended baggage may be removed by Airport Security Staff as object of suspicion.
- To declare before baggage screening / check-in if you are carrying any arms or explosive substance. Concealment is an offence under Aircraft Act and Rules.
- To carry only one piece of hand baggage.
- To carry battery cells or dry cells in registered baggage and not in the hand baggage or in any electrical/electronic items. If not carried in registered baggage, such articles are liable to be removed and the airline would not be in a position to hand-over the same at the destination.
Keeping safety of Guests & equipment in mind, the following Security process has to be followed:
- Printed travel itineraries will be checked at the time of entering the terminal building. Check-in baggage would be screened through an X-ray machine before check-in. Random physical checks are also carried out for checked baggage in addition to X-ray screening.
- As per Government of India security regulations, Guests will be required to undergo personal frisking & their hand baggage x-rayed before entering the pre-boarding sterile area.
- Checked baggage reconciliation is carried out through an internal matching system. Wherever it is not possible to have the baggage reconciliation, the physical identification of the check-in baggage by the Guests will be carried out. Unidentified baggage will not be loaded into the aircraft.
- A secondary security check may also be carried out near the step ladder/boarding gate before embarkation as stipulated by BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security).
Dangerous Articles in Baggage
For safety reasons dangerous articles, such as those listed below, must not be carried in the Guest's baggage:
- Compressed gasses: deeply refrigerated, flammable non-flammable and poisonous such as butane oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders and compressed gas cylinders.
- Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries and apparatus containing mercury.
- Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares, ammunition including blank cartridges handguns, fire works, and pistol caps.
- Flammable liquids and solids such as: lighter refills, lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners, fire-lighters, lighters that need inverting before ignition, matches (these may be carried on the person), radio active material, briefcases and attaché case with installed alarm devices, and oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides.
- Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials. Other dangerous articles such as magnetized materials, offensive or irritating materials.
- Carriage of dry cell batteries, knives, scissors, sharp instruments, tools, firearms, ammunitions, and toy replicas are prohibited in the Guest cabin.
- In-flight Services

As per Government of India regulations and for the comfort of our Guests, smoking is not permitted on any SpiceJet flights. SpiceJet also does not permit the serving or consumption of alcohol on any of its flights.
SpiceJet sells snacks/refreshments and juices on selected flights subject to availability. Water is provided free of cost on all flights of SpiceJet.
- Cancellations, Changes in Schedule

In case of circumstances beyond its control (including, but without limitation, meteorological conditions, mechanical failures, acts of nature, force majeure, strikes, riots, civil, commotion's, embargoes, wars, hostilities, disturbances, government regulations, orders, demands or requirements, shortage of labor, fuel or facilities, or labor difficulties of Carrier or others all actual, threatened or reported), SpiceJet may without notice cancel or delay a flight. If due to such circumstances SpiceJet cancels or delays such flight beyond 10-hours, is unable to provide previously confirmed space, or fails to stop at the Guest's destination point, the carrier shall either:
- Carry the Guest on the next scheduled service of SpiceJet on the same sector on which space is available, without an extra charge or
- Make a full refund for the booking as paid for by the Guest and shall be under no further liability to the Guest. In such an event, SpiceJet will make the refund available within 2-weeks, through its Guest Relations department.
- SpiceJet reserves the right to deny any unsuitable passenger whether from improper attire, cleanliness, intoxication or medical concern.

Except in the case of its act(s) or omissions done with intent to cause damage or recklessly and with knowledge that damage would probably result, SpiceJet shall not be liable for errors or omissions in timetables or other published schedules, or for representations made by employees, agents or representatives of SpiceJet as to the dates or time of departure or arrival or as to the operation of any flight.
- Spicy Code

Spicy codes are specific codes given out to our Guests to obtain a discount as and when certain promotional activities are carried out by SpiceJet. When a promotion occurs on SpiceJet, these Spicy Codes are given out to our Guests and/or Travel Partners through E-Mail or SMS, which may be used on the website to avail discounts on the basic fare.
Conditions :
- Every spicy code is active for only a certain period of time.
- Some spicy codes may be restricted to only Travel Partners/ Specific Travel Partners or may be given out to all our Guests.
- Certain low fares may be excluded from these spicy code promotions.
- Discount may be a fixed or a percentage value and the amount of discount may vary with every promotional activity.
- Discount may or may not print on the Itinerary subject to the specific conditions of the promotional activity.
- During the promotional activity, spicy codes can be used for any number of PNRs/Passengers.
Usage :
During the booking process, on the payment page, you would be given an option of entering the Spicy Code. On entering this Spicy Code and clicking Continue, the effective discount will be applied and reduced from the basic fare. Now, you can make the balance payment as per the payment options available on the site.
